Vitema Pharmaceuticals and DY Nutrition celebrated World Health Day alongside SOS Children’s Villages in Sibiu through the ”Health For All” initiative

In line with their collective commitment to enhance public health through their manufacturing and marketing endeavours, Vitema SA, a contract manufacturing company, and DY Nutrition Global SA, a sports supplement company, have forged a partnership with the non-governmental organization SOS Children’s Villages. Together, they have orchestrated a unique initiative to commemorate World Health Day.

The “Health For All” initiative was created to support disadvantaged communities in Sibiu and its surroundings, under the motto: “Prevention and Care, step by step towards a healthy community!”

On Friday, April 5, 2024, volunteers from Vitema Pharmaceuticals and DY Nutrition teams took part in a special health and well-being support action for families and children in the SOS Sibiu communities. They supported 3 educational workshops focused on health care and the essential role of nutrition and vitamins in cultivating a healthy lifestyle in Sibiu, Avrig, and Cisnădie. During the workshops, Vitema and DY Nutrition aimed to emphasize the essential role of nutrition and vitamins for a healthy lifestyle. They were showcasing practical ways to integrate essential nutrients into daily meals, ensuring that everyone can take tangible steps towards better health. At the end of the seminars, the beneficiaries received a donation consisting of supplements from the portfolios of the two companies, fruits, and personal hygiene items.

World Health Day is celebrated annually on 7th April and each year draws attention to a specific health topic of concern to people worldwide. Around the world, the right to health of millions is increasingly coming under threat.

Diseases and disasters loom large as causes of death and disability. Conflicts are devastating lives, causing death, pain, hunger, and psychological distress. The burning of fossil fuels is simultaneously driving the climate crisis and taking away our right to breathe clean air, with indoor and outdoor air pollution claiming a life every 5 seconds.

The WHO Council on the Economics of Health for All has found that at least 140 countries recognize health as a human right in their constitution. Yet countries are not passing and putting into practice laws to ensure their populations are entitled to access health services. This underpins that at least 4.5 billion people — more than half of the world’s population — were not fully covered by essential health services in 2021. To address these types of challenges, the theme for World Health Day 2024 is ‘My health, my right’. This year’s theme was chosen to champion the right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, and decent working:

“This #WorldHealthDay, we wholeheartedly embraced the theme “My Health, My Right” alongside our partner DY Nutrition. In the spirit of this day, we were honoured to bring the essence of self-care to the doorsteps of disadvantaged communities in Sibiu, through our collaboration with SOS Satele Copiilor Romania. Despite Romania’s progress in improving healthcare, the shadow of poverty and social exclusion looms large, resulting in vast inequalities in healthcare coverage, with rural and vulnerable communities facing significant challenges in accessing basic healthcare services. 2.4 million of Romanians live without insurance, constrained by poverty, often delaying seeking medical help until it is too late, thus contributing to the high burden of preventable and treatable deaths in Romania.

At Vitema Pharmaceuticals, we are driven by the vision that healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. On this #WorldHealthDay, we’re not just talking about change; we’re being the change – delivering vitamins, health supplements, and crucial information on self-care to those who need it most.” – Diana Șerban, Commercial and Business Development Head of Vitema Pharmaceuticals

DY Nutrition Global SA, the sports supplement company founded by legendary bodybuilder Dorian Yates, six-time consecutive Mr. Olympia winner, promptly responded to the invitation from Vitema Pharmaceuticals to join their “Health For All” initiative and support the SOS Satele Copiilor communities in Sibiu:

“Alongside Vitema Pharmaceuticals, we have partnered with SOS Children’s Villages Romania as part of the ‘Health For All’ initiative tailored to disadvantaged communities in Sibiu and its surroundings, on the occasion of World Health Day. At DY Nutrition, we strongly believe in fostering such actions, as they can have a major, game-changing impact on the communities we are part of.” – Mircea Teacă, CEO of DY Nutrition Global SA.
